R.G. Oates, a real estate salesman on the Gold Coast made investments in land backing on to Biggera Creek in 1939. In 1960 a bridge was constructed at Lands End, which made Biggera Waters more accessible. The Biggera Creek Bridge promoted Biggera Waters as a residential area and Gold Coast holiday destination.
A superb waterfront promenade is located along the Broadwater that starts from Biggera Waters in the North continuing on to Southport in the South. The promenade has several beautiful parks and parkland that are perfect for cycling, walking and relaxing. You can find a number of shopping centers in and around Biggera Waters. These include Harbour Town in Labrador, Runaway Bay Shopping Centre and Australia Fair in Southport. These shopping centers boast many trendy restaurants and cafes. A number of dining centers can be found along the Broadwater too.
