Gold Coast Indy 300The Nikon Indy 300 held in Gold Coast is the open wheel motor race event. This race is held once every year.  It is 4.4kms or 2.75miles, of pure adrenaline rush!! The circuit has many fast sections. There are also a couple of chicanes or S shaped curves, which can be tricky for the racers. Also the track contains 7 bridges, 2515 barriers, more than 140 corporate suite bookers making it a challenging race.

Since its introduction in 1991, the race has brought in Gold Coast residents a feeling of thrill and excitement. The circuit is internationally acclaimed. The residential complex, commercial and holiday terminal  spread around the Gold Coast area were all transformed into structures that could support a high speed driving facility over a period of 12 months.

Indy 300 is international leader in motor car racing and motor safety.  The drivers participating in the event are excited about the one of a kind race that it is. The hottest cars of the year all participate in this event. The hottest parties, hottest beaches are all sites on the most famous beaches of the Gold Coast area which run besides the circuit. It is a 59 lap race totaling to about 263.73 kms.

A racer by the name of Sebastien Bourdais has the most wins under his belt. In 2007 the pole position was held by Will Power Australian Team. Drivers like Will Power, Ryan Briscoe and Scot Dixon participate in the event that makes the race a great event to follow.

The race is four days and four night of extreme power packed event. It is 96 hours of incessant adventure at the Gold Coast. The roars of the engines fill up the regions lazy airs with energy and excitement. The red hot event of eastern Australia has tourists and locals alike in its attendance. The cars howl past the audience and the sights and sounds of Gold Coast. The series has a few practice sessions, followed by qualifiers and the actual race back to back, so that there is not even a single action less minute.

The supercars at the Nikon Indy 300 have 650 horsepower engines. Fords, Holdens and other such big names all line up at the Surfers Paradise for the race. Over the months preceding the race the excitement that builds up is huge. The track preparation takes about two weeks or more. The fans of local drivers fill the streets in large numbers and chant the names of their favorite racer in unison. Of course all the drivers are equally welcome.

The race is generally held in the third week of October. If you are at Gold Coast at the time you won't really want to go to any of the theme parks or laze out on the beach because the adrenaline rush that you get seeing the cars chasing one another down is incomparable. All in all, during the race day and the days preceding the event the Gold Coast is alive and bustling with energy and enthusiasm.

So if you are looking for a good time, why not book some Gold Coast accommodation for October.
